Investing in the Future of Sandford Park School
The Sandford Park Foundation was established by Sandford Park Trust Company CLG, the sole shareholder of Sandford Park School, to support and advance the school’s long-term vision.
Our mission is to sustainably develop and future-proof the campus, ensuring that every investment aligns with our environmental and sustainability goals. Through strategic planning, building upgrades, and innovative design, we are committed to creating a campus that prioritises decarbonisation while maintaining the school’s rich history and vibrant learning environment.
A Legacy of Sustainable Development
Since 2019, Sandford Park School has embarked on an ambitious journey to modernise and enhance our facilities with sustainability at the core:
· Sports Facilities (2019): Upgrades included the reconfiguration of our playing areas, with a new hockey pitch and a rugby training pitch, enriching our students’ sporting experience.
· Le Peton Building (2020): Opened as part of our transition to a co-educational school, this award-winning architectural project features 10 classrooms, three meeting rooms, and a social space that fosters a dynamic atmosphere for students and staff.
· Renewable Energy & Efficiency Upgrades (2021–2023): A major renovation of the Science / Art, and AB Classroom buildings, featuring enhanced insulation, modernised interiors, and the installation of solar panels, significantly improving energy efficiency and reducing our carbon footprint.
· Dining Hall & Outdoor Basketball Court (2023–2024): Sustainable upgrades to our dining facilities and the addition of a new outdoor basketball court have further enhanced student life.
These developments have not only improved comfort and well-being for our students and staff but have also been recognised by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), which has showcased our renewables project as an exemplary model for other schools and not-for-profit organisations.
The Next Chapter: Preserving Our Heritage, Embracing the Future
Looking ahead, we remain committed to sustainably upgrading and renewing our campus. Essential external conservation works commenced in January 2025 on the Main House, the school’s original and architecturally significant building and a protected structure dating back to 1894. These works are part of our commitment to preserving the historical integrity of the building and the aesthetic contribution to the campus.
In addition, plans are underway for the reconfiguration of existing classrooms to create a bespoke Drama, Film, and Music facility. This state-of-the-art space will elevate the creative arts experience for our students, supporting their passion for performance and artistic expression. The project is scheduled for completion in summer 2025.
